Sections and Construction Details

A section through the building is also required. This will show floor construction (slab or framed), ground lines (natural and finished), R.L.’s of floor height if required (flood zones), wall construction type and materials used, ceiling heights and roof construction, pitch and roofing material. A simple house will usually only have one typical section. Larger and complicated buildings may require several sections and also details at a larger scale.

Construction Details are small drawings used to show how a building is put together in a non convention or complex way that cannot be shown in a section or covered in written specification. Some complex buildings will require pages of details. They are often used by Builders and Architect to show sub-contractors the exact construction methods to use to achieve the finished product they want.
